this cd is a really old-school gem: a compilation of material i wrote between ages 16 and 22, when i was touring pretty exclusively with slam poetry under the pseudonym "dr. madelyn hatter."  the majority of these pieces haven't touched a microphone since 2006.  though i may someday wade back into slam's competitve waters, it definitely won't be as "madelyn" and it is very unlikely to be with these poems.

ironically, this little cd seems to have a broader circulation than any of my other objects--something in the neighborhood of two thousand hard copies, and who knows how many digital copies.  there are no blurbs, no reviews and no awards for this thing, but i still get occasional emails from some young kids who say my too-badass-to-be-true approach to sex and politics has changed their lives somehow.  so contrary to the notion that i've tried to sweep this part of my life under the rug, i am still very proud of these poems, and i'm glad to know they are finding a home in the hearts of a new generation.
